Find Data in Marketplace
This page describes how you can find datasets in the Marketplace
- The Eratos Marketplace is where you can find and browse datasets, workflows, and solutions published and licenced by members of the community, along with any important contextual information.
- Datasets can be filtered by category, creator, tag, dataset type, temporal frequency, and variable.
- On block listings, you can see all the key information about that block like what type of block it is, who created it, when it was published, and any other contextual information that may be useful.
The first step to unlocking the power of Eratos is getting data into your local environment and there are a number of ways you can browse and find datasets in the Eratos Community.
This guide will help you find the SILO Daily Historical Rainfall Dataset by searching with text or by category. SILO is a database of Australian climate data from 1889 to the present, and we're going to be searching for the dataset that has the daily observations of rainfall.
This tutorial is also viewable in video form HERE.1. Navigate to Marketplace
Click 'Marketplace' on the left side of your Workspace to see what datasets and models are available to you.
The Eratos Marketplace is where you can find and browse datasets, workflows, and solutions published and licenced by members of the community, along with any important contextual information.

2. Finding the dataset
Currently, there are 2 primary ways to find datasets and models on the Marketplace: Searching and filtering.
A video detailing the search function can be found here2.1 Searching
Click in the Search bar, at the top center left of the page.
Type "Rainfall" in the Search box. You can either click one of the drop down options to go directly to the datasets description or press enter to search.
Click Daily Historical Rainfall

2.2 Searching by category
Using the Filter functionality you can filter for exactly what you want.
First, click the Data filter. Then the + next to "Filter by:"
Here we filter for the Category: Observation and the Tag Rainfall to find the Daily Historical Rainfall Dataset.
Click on Daily Historical Rainfall.

3. Viewing the dataset info
Here we can view the Block Listing for Daily Historical Rainfall. On block listings, we can see all the key information about that block like what type of block it is, who created it, when it was published, and any other contextual information that may be useful.
If you couldn't find the dataset click here.
4. Add the dataset to your space
On the block listing click the Access button which will ask you to add it to a space (1.). Adding it to a space ensures you have the correct permissions to interact with the dataset in the Eratos backend. If you don't have a space yet, click create new space, and give it a new name.

A dialog option will pop-up confirming that you would like to share the dataset with everyone within the space. Click proceed to add it to your space.
5. Get the dataset ERN
The ERN is the unique name that Eratos uses to know which Resource you are trying to access.
More information about ERNs can be found here.
To get the dataset ERN, navigate to the block description for the dataset.
Copy the ERN by clicking the arrow next to the word get and selecting "copy".

The above method/s can be used to search and discover any dataset that is available to you on the Eratos Platform, feel free to take the time to explore what the platform currently has to offer. If there is a dataset you are after and it is not currently available please email [email protected], with the subject: Dataset Request.
